JMC Charleston Launches Crosby’s
Dock
Scenic Special Events Venue Showcases Treasured Jewel
of the Carolina Lowcountry
|
For decades, people
in Charleston came to Crosby’s Dock for many reasons.
From meeting
the fish, crab, oyster and shrimp boats, buying fresh
local seafood for sit down feasts, to joining the Crosby
family for special events, locals and visitors alike
have associated Crosby’s Dock as a place for fresh
seafood and good time gatherings.
En route to Folly Beach
and sitting on the banks of Folly Creek, Crosby’s
Dock, the newest special event venue in the Lowcountry,
is part of Crosby’s Fish and Shrimp Company which
offers fresh local seafood, thrilling sunsets and a
family-friendly place to go fishing or crabbing. Upon
glancing at Crosby’s Dock one is viewing a true
icon - an embodiment of Charleston’s coastal character
and once thriving seafood industry.
It’s the kind of
setting that has inspired location
managers for Hollywood films like Forrest Gump and The
Prince of Tides who were looking to mimic coastal cultural
vestiges of the Lowcountry’s idyllic charm. Today
the preservation of this way of life has become more
paramount as the local seafood industry finds itself
in a battle to stem the rising tide of foreign imported
shrimp that threatens its very livelihood.
