J. Mitchell Crosby of JMC Charleston and Denise Barto
of All Occasions are once again producing the Second
Annual Food + Wine Festival. “The event was so
successful last year that Crosby and Barto were asked
to do it again” said Board Member Laura Hewitt.
The festival, slated for March 2-5, 2007, will grow
in scope to include a number of new events, including
a Celebrity Chef Dinner, “Under the Charleston
Stars” in a private penthouse apartment which
overlooks the city; exclusive to 60 people, an expanded
Gospel Brunch, a Sunday afternoon BBQ for 500 guests,
and a Saturday evening Young Patron’s Event at
the Historic Rice Mill.
“We find our expanding roll with the festival
very exciting, as new venues with new culinary experiences
are made available to the public”, says Crosby.
This years events will include educational lectures
by top celebrity writers and chefs, as well as top vendors,
wine merchants and restaurants in the main tent for
you to visit. Here is your chance to meet and learn
from the best in the business.
From the elegant and sophisticated black-tie soiree
for 60 guests in a private penthouse to the BBQ for
500, the additional events prove that there is something
for everyone during this festival weekend.
As pit masters from most of the Southern states prepare
their samplings, prepare to be dazzled by an authentic
Low country ‘pig picking’ complete with
a Columbia, South Carolina Soul band, wagons, bales
of hay, handsome wait staff in straw hats and hordes
banana pudding and peach cobbler!
