On The Menu is an exciting weekly, one-hour program
whose subject is food, wine, travel & lifestyle;
it is heard each week on PBS radio across the country.
Ann & Peter Haigh host the show and interview chefs,
restaurateurs, hoteliers, authors, winemakers, food
producers, and other culinary luminaries. They also
discuss food trends, new products, where to go, how
to get there and special events worth noting.
Ann & Peter Haigh were in Charleston for the BB&T
Charleston Food+Wine Festival where they caught up with
Mitchell Crosby of JMC Charleston. Mitchell Crosby and
Denise Barto have co-produced the Festival since its
inception four years ago. Mitchell told them about this
year’s themes and concepts. He said the committee
continues to increase the quality of the events and
will slowly grow the festival so that it can be enjoyed
by everyone—local as well as people from ‘off’.
“We were very lucky” said Crosby, “as
most of the events were sold out before the end of 2008.
And we like to think that is because of the quality
of Chefs, Wineries, and culinary luminaries who are
participating in this year’s Festival.”
All of the programs have been very well received—the
Dine Arounds, Dinner in Private Homes, the Gospel Brunch,
Blues Brews & BBQ, Bubbles & Sweets.
Ann then ask Mitchell about his Destination Management
company, JMC Charleston. He said that he entertains
his corporate and incentive groups the way Charlestonian’s
have entertained for years, with style and innate sensibility,
educating them to the beauty of the Low country. And
then he had to hurry to the next event to make sure
that all was well and that everyone was enjoying the
day.
